RC snubber capacitance, resistance, and loss
Calculate capacitance from energy or enter it. Changing the µH, nF, or kHz unit converts the number so the same physical value is kept.
Rechenbeispiel
Energy calculation
Energy capacitance 40 nF
C_energy = (L_H * I^2) / Delta_V^2. The inductance unit is converted to henry before this equation.
Selected capacitance
Capacitance used 40 nF
Energy mode uses C = (L * I^2) / Delta_V^2. Entered mode uses the capacitance and unit you selected.
Damping resistance 10 ohm
R = 2 * zeta * sqrt(L / C)
Loss
Resistor loss 8 W
P = C * V_peak^2 * f_Hz. Hz, kHz, and MHz are converted to hertz first.
dv/dt and time
dv/dt 250 V/µs
dv/dt = V_peak / (R * C) in V/s, shown as V/µs (volts per microsecond).
Minimum on time 1.2 µs
t_on = 3 * R * C, shown in µs (microseconds).
Zeta from 0.7 to 1.0 is a usual damping note, not a clamp. The AC power equation is not used because X_c is not defined.
